Any tips, details will be appreciated.
Thanks

In theory it would be useful to take Draw Spirit to make your spirits (like Fav Winds) more portable, but the skill is broken and only moves the actual spirit itself and the effect of the spirit stays in the same place. This could be helpful to drop a FW near enemies, then move it back, but that takes more time than it would be worth imo. Some have suggested using some weapon spells with Barrage, but the end result is having to spread your attributes and stop to recast something constantly. The end result of this is really not worth it. If added damage would be desired for Barrage, then the best way to do it is to have a rit cast a weapon spell on you or just take Conjure Flame/Lightning/Frost.

The only reason I would suggest a rit secondary is for the rez.

Brutal weapon is a decent weapon spell that stacks onto your preparations for added damage, provided you aren't under an enchantment. There are some new weapon spells I haven't played around with in Nightfall yet, you might want to check them out.

I have a thread talking about ranger secondaries and their usefulness. R/Rt, IMO has some decent abilities, but my personal pet project was the barrage/Splintered Weapon scenario that was previously mentioned.

The thought of repreping the spell is its only real downfall. However, with Expertise at 9, the cost isn't too much,I will put a build pic up so you can see how I play the R/Rt.

For fun you can try running Oath shot, whirling and five of the offensive spirits, mainly disenchant and the other 25 energy interupt one. It is easy to keep them all up 100% of the time with expertise and oath shot, something which primary rits have trouble with due to recharge and energy costs.

Keep in mind however that they die very easy if attacked due to not having the extra hit points from the rits primary attribute, thus the reason for not running the defensive spirits that take damage when they are called into effect.

I ran 16 expertise and 12 communing i think.

The thread he refers to also shows that Splinter Weapon only affects 1 arrow of barrage, no matter how many targets it hits. The points spent in Channeling for this could probably have been put to better use since he would do more damage pulling off an extra barrage shot than stopping to cast a weapon spell. Also, since Splinter Shot is a weapon spell, expertise does not effect it.

If you want to maximize your dps with Barrage, use a vampiric flatbow with favorable winds. If you don't want to use FW, then just use a vampiric longbow.

Problem with using any weapon spell... is the fact that it IS a spell. It turns out very energy heavy to try and make them work, and in the end the time, effort, and energy used could have been put to better use elsewhere. I don't want to come right out and say that a /rit secondary is all but useless to a ranger but.... a /rit secondary is all but useless to a ranger primary.

(I have, however, wanted to try Prepared shot with a weapon spell build... I'm sure that the energy returns would be enough to cover the costs of the spell. Only thing that remains to be seen is whether or not it'd be worth it.)

You could use the elite restoration item skill Tranquil was Tanasen. It gives you +22 armor and prevents you from being interrupted for 17 seconds or so at 12 restoration. May work well with traps.

^ There is no way you can spend 96 att points for that when you're a trapper: you need max expertise and WS. And if you're not a trapper, erm... that's pretty useless as you can't use your weapon while holding this.

Just throwing out random thoughts . . . you could probably use it without maxing restoration.

But hey, "Any tips, details will be appreciated."

Don't need max Expertise as a Trapper, I usually get around 9 + 3 and get some into Beast Mastery because Viper's Defense is the shiznit.

The thread that I am running is about secondaries, but the topic of choice is the Barrage+Splintered Weapon theory. It hits multiple targets, but the people who think they are ranger officionados contend otherwise. The debate continues...now,let's not bring this over here. Keep that arguement where it is.

You argued that the argument was off topic on that page and now you say you don't want it over there? Look, if you want to believe that Splinter Weapon works on every arrow go for it, I'm not gonna stop ya.
